About the Navajo Nation Veterinary Management Program

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Navajo Veterinary Program is to provide comprehensive, low cost veterinary services for all animals of the Navajo Nation by reaching out to the general public through service at the agency clinics, chapter based services within each community and through education.

Vision Statement:

Our vision of the future is to obtain a balance within the People, Nature and the Animal kingdoms within the Navajo Nation. We envision a Navajo Nation, in which disease, animal overpopulation, neglect and livestock damage problems are no longer a threat to the health and safety of the Navajo People.

The Veterinary Program was established in 1982, first as a Stallion Breeding Facility, when the Window Rock Veterinary Clinic opened its doors. In 1988, the Crownpoint and Tuba City Veterinary Clinics were created but closed in 1995 and 2004 due to budget cuts within our Program. The Shiprock Veterinary Clinic opened in 1989 and the Chinle Veterinary Clinic opened in 1993 and are still in operation. The Window Rock Veterinary Clinic closed in 2011 and the Tse Bonito Veterinary Clinic was established in its place.

Over the years, staff and buildings may have changed but the goal remains the same. We have transformed into All Dine’ Team with ties from all regions of the Navajo Nation. NNVMP strives to be a Navajo Led Veterinary Medical Team to help the Navajo people and surrounding communities. We are thankful for the foresight, hard work and sacrifices of previous Veterinarians and Staff who have worked under the NNVP. We will strive and continue to be a team that will assist the Navajo Nation, the People and Animals with their small and large animal veterinary needs.

We offer a variety of services in the clinics and programs below, but get booked very fast due to need on Navajo Nation. NNVMP will make every effort to assist you and provide the quality of care that we are able to.
